Vacation from vacation!
While on holiday in Utah we were so busy that it was nice to be back home and we wanted to take advantage of Labour Day weekend while Mason had a couple extra days and the other kids hadn't started school quite yet. We had gorgeous weather, and a campsite that was mostly empty because of the end of summer. We didn't go too far from home and for once we weren't fitting in any exploring, just good ol' family fun was the only thing on the agenda. Taylor and Brennan loved playing a few games of stick pull, playing catch and also exploring the farm where we were camping were the highlights.

Mason found that he really enjoyed playing with the rear hatch of the van, we could find him there quite a bit just opening and closing the door. At least he wasn't wandering off like he normally would be. In a previous post about Mt. Timpanagos I had mentioned that we went to Cabela's for some new camping treasures. We had to test them out as soon as possible, which is also one of the reason's we went camping. The new dutch oven and camping stove were brilliant! All the food was fabulous if we do say so ourselves.
Carter became a constant wood whittler while we were camping. He was excited that he got to use an actual knife as well, we didn't trust all the children with this luxury.
Mason was playing a game of pat-a-cake with Mason and I think it might have been the most interaction between these two to date. Mason was giggling the whole time and even held Cam for a moment.

We all LOVED being around the campfire!!!

While we were taking down camp...these guys helped by staying out of the way and not arguing while they were doing it.

Mike and Carter built a bow and arrow while we were camping. It shot really well!
Our good friend, whom we simply referred to as cock-reel AKA Dinner. They have a sound curfew on the campsite for both night and morning. We never understood this as we had this and a few other roosters crowing away at 6:00a.m, the sound curfew was 7:30. Did I mention they were RIGHT outside your tent? As in inches from your head when they let their crow go. This made for a LONG day. However, that long day was spent with my favourite people in the world and it was a great relaxing weekend after such a busy holiday.
