Easter Wrap Up

 This explains why we are late for church on a regular basis. Captain Underpants?! My children can get distracted doing the most simple of tasks, like eat breakfast. Easter morning was no different.

 Our family has gotten use to doing our Easter hunt after church and in the later afternoon, because it seems like Dad always has to work on Easter. So we hide out and watch a movie giving the Easter bunny time to do his magic. The kids were so excited this year that it was hard to get some photos of all the fun. They were running from one side of the house to another.

Mason found his basket and did care the slightest about finding any eggs, he was happy with the treats he found. 

 Carter challenged the Easter Bunny last year to hide his basket really well, because he is older and can find ANYTHING! Well, 30 minutes later he was still smiling, but couldn't find the basket. SO CLOSE--yet so far away! That blue and white checked item in the washer--that's his basket. :)

She was VERY excited about a certain little toy she got--so thrilled with the little things. 

Mason Easter is summed up in one word, chocolate! :)

Easter Traditions

Hot Cross Buns are a big English tradition and Carter came home from school telling me that we needed to make these on Good Friday. There are many sweet stories associated with them and Easter. It was a fun tradition to start as a family even if we did tweak the recipe to accommodate our taste buds. No one in my family is a big raisin eater, which is what they call for, so we used dried cranberries instead and added some chocolate chips for good measure.

We dyed Easter eggs..Cameron was not happy that he couldn't eat the egg and we were making him put it in a cup.

Taylor Mae

Finally got one to eat...yummy! 

Who needs the wand or spoon to dye the eggs, Brennan just went hands on!

The whole family--one of these days I will use the timer and get myself in these shots. 

We are like children, we wanted our own to dye as well. :)

Play-Doh

 Mason has been pulled out of school for right now(I will post about that later), so we get extra home time with Mason to do fun projects like this! Mason has always loved Play-Doh and for Cameron, this was his first experience. I am a weird person about this lovely toy--the neon crumbs drive me mad, the way my children mix the colours makes me crazy, but I also love creating different sculptures with them. I guess the sculptural person in me won the day today.

 You have to let them eat it to see what they think, although the picture is blurry I love Cameron's face of disgust below. Mason was thrilled to be able to cut the Play-Doh, he has, at the moment, an obsession with cutting things. This is great for his fine motor skills, not so great on the important papers he always seems to be cutting.

Elder Larsen left us---the Christiansen Crew will miss having you around! He is the ginger headed one. :)

Cameron is ONE!

 Cameron, I know that you will never know, or never care that this is a picture of your cake after your big brother Mason decided to cut right down the side and your mom had to resurrect the cake from cake heaven, but I think you liked it anyway.

Cameron wasn't really sure what to think when it came to everyone singing to him. He did give a little grin and thought it was fun to be the center of attention. We have been working on blowing, but I think we should have practiced with an actual candle, because like our other children he decided his fingers would work to put it out, then didn't enjoy the feeling of getting a little burnt.
When it came time to eating I knew we would have a little problem, because Cameron must have a fork to eat or he will not touch his food. :) He will eventually get his hands in there, but for the most part we have a very English child that NEEDS cutlery to eat.

We thought that Cameron was acting even more subdued than normal, and that was confirmed when he got a fever later that night after his party, but at least he had a little fun. Cameron is a great little baby, and is really an easy going, laid back kind of guy with little worries in his life. He LOVES his mama and wants to have her hold him while she is going about doing her duties of the day. Cameron has a few confirmed words and some others that he is working on. Words that we for sure have heard include the following; mom, Taylor, more, what's that, duck, dad, night night. Cameron enjoys playing cars and rolling balls back and forth. Happy Birthday Cameron, we love you!!!
